Run the Bayou, Bay and Beach 2016!
If you rent a home in Destin then you are probably already aware of the incredible views available to you along our coast. But, sign up for the 2016 Bayou, Bay and Beach and you can join other runners for a half marathon, 10K or 5K on January 23, 2016!
This running event on the Emerald Coast is also ideal for those who rent a house in Fort Walton Beach, as the USA Track and Field Certified half marathon course actually takes you from Clement Taylor Park, along the Destin Harbor, down 98 and through 4 miles of undeveloped Okaloosa Island. That portion of the race begins at 7:30AM.
The 10K and 5K, which also enjoy scenic courses throughout Destin, kicks off at 8:30AM. Kids wishing to join their parents in the days’ events can sign up for the 1 mile fun run. All entrance fees are currently discounted until the day of the race. The half marathon fee is $60, while the 10K and 5K courses are just $30.
As in previous years, the Bayou, Bay and Beach will benefit the Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance, which works to restore and protect the Choctawhatchee Basin Watershed. The kick off party and packet pickup will take place at Fudpucker’s, a local Emerald Coast restaurant, on January 22, 2016.
Oh, and don’t forget to wear your best beach attire as this years’ race is themed ‘Beach Bums’. See you at the finish line!
