Rid Your Rental of Allergies

Spring is in the air, and most of us cannot wait to officially say goodbye to the winter blues and welcome the arrival of longer days and budding flowers. Still, these seasonal changes are not received as warmly by everyone. For many, they are clouded with congestion, sneezing and itchy eyes.

Before you decide to hide indoors, have you considered that your home could actually be making your allergies worse?

Fear not, there are some relatively easy and inexpensive remedies that may provide all the relief you need. First, consider trying an air purifier. Whether portable or whole-home, air purifiers equipped with HEPA filters are known for trapping airborne irritants. If you already have one, make sure they are properly maintained. This should include checking filters and purchasing replacements monthly. As outlined in our tenant handbook, a good rule of thumb is to change your filter when you pay your electric bill.

Some strategic cleaning is another good way to control the indoor allergens. If you have carpeting, try and make a habit of vacuuming once or twice a week. This will help in keeping pet dander and dust to a minimum. In addition, using a damp or treated cloth for dusting purposes will attract the particles rather than scattering them back into the air.

Spend your spring in peace this year and breathe easier in your Northwest Florida rental home.
