Summer Sun Safety

The perfect vacation for herJuly is UV Safety Month, and if you have recently moved into a long term home rental in Northwest Florida or Coastal Alabama, you are no doubt experiencing why that is – it’s hot out!

Yes, it’s very hot out, not to mention humid. These conditions can zap your energy and also be very dangerous if you don’t take proper precautions. Dehydration and sunburn are just two factors you will want to guard against as you navigate through your first summer here on the Gulf Coast.

The hottest time to be outside is generally between about 10 AM and 4 PM. So, if you have outdoor chores to get done, do so early or late in the day. No matter what time you elect to be out, whether for fun on the beach or mowing the lawn, keep plenty of water handy, wear sunglasses and grab a hat.

Do we even need to remind you about wearing sunscreen? Grab at least an SPF 15 and reapply often. Even if it’s cloudy outside, a burn takes no time at all to occur along our sunny shores. In fact, even if you just plan to be in and out of the car running errands, daily sunscreen is a wise choice.

We hope you have a safe summer and enjoy cooling off at the numerous beaches, pools and water activities in your new hometown in Northwest Florida and Coastal Alabama!
