The 2016 Flora-Bama Mullet Toss

If you have just recently moved in to a long term home rental on the Gulf Coast, specifically a rental home in Perdido Key or Orange Beach, one of the year’s most popular events is right around the corner. Trust us, you won’t want to miss it.

We are speaking of the annual Flora-Bama Mullet Toss. Yes, mullet, as in the fish. And, you really can toss them. The main event will take place April 22-24, 2016, but there are a variety of other events leading up to the Mullet Toss, which we think you will want to check out.

If you love to run, swim and ride, consider registering the 20th annual Mullet Man Triathlon. The race will take place the morning of April 16, 2016 and feature a renowned course that includes a swim in our beautiful emerald water. The race kicks off with a 1/4 mile swim through the Gulf of Mexico, before transferring participants to the bike segment, which will take place on a paved path. From there, runners will race  4.2 miles before hitting up the post-race party back at the Flora-Bama.

If your idea of a perfect day out is a little more relaxed than all that running, swimming and biking, consider the Mullet Swing Golf Tournament taking place on April 20, 2016. The event kicks off at 11AM and is a 4-person scramble. After a hot, fun day on the links, be sure to visit the Flora-Bama hospitality tent at 5PM for awards.

And, finally, if you just want to have a little fun in the sun, hit the shore for the Mullet Toss and Gulf Coast’s Greatest Beach Party, beginning April 22, 2016. Be sure to bring an extra $15 to register for the mullet toss. If you have never done it before, you will want to be able to say you’ve stood in the circle and tried your hand at flinging a fish across the state line. There will be prizes each day, as well as live entertainment, great food and drinks and so much more. We will see you there!
